YouTube fonts are Unicode text styles, such as ๐ฏ๐ผ๐น๐ฑ, ๐ฌ๐พ๐ป๐ผ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฎ and ๊ฑแดแดสส แดแดแด๊ฑ, that you copy from this generator and paste into YouTube comments, your channel name, video titles and descriptions. The handle is the one YouTube text field that rejects them.
Fonts for YouTube comments
YouTube comments display pasted Unicode styles as typed, so a bold or cursive word copied from the generator stays bold or cursive for every viewer. Bold works best for 1โ3 words, such as a timestamp label: "๐ญ๐ฎ:๐ฐ๐ฌ the best part". Long styled comments cost readers effort and are skipped by most screen readers.
Fonts for YouTube channel name
The YouTube channel name accepts Unicode styles, and YouTube allows 2 channel name changes within 14 days (YouTube Help). A name change also removes the verification badge, so verified channels lose the badge when they switch to a styled name.
A channel name shows in search results, on every video and next to every comment. A partly styled name, such as "Kai Cooks แด แดษชสส", keeps the searchable part in plain letters.
Can you use fonts in a YouTube handle?
No. A YouTube handle holds 3โ30 characters made of letters or numbers from YouTube's 75 supported languages, plus underscores (_), hyphens (-), periods (.) and the Latin middle dot (ยท), which cannot start or end the handle (YouTube Help). Styled letters such as ๐ธ๐ฎ๐ถ are mathematical symbols in Unicode, not letters of any language, so they fall outside the allowed set.
Handles in Han or Hangul characters hold 1โ10 characters, and handles in Ethiopic, Hiragana or Katakana hold 2โ20. Handles are not case-sensitive, and YouTube allows 2 handle changes within 14 days.
Fonts for YouTube titles and descriptions
YouTube titles accept Unicode styles up to the 100-character title limit, and descriptions accept them up to the 5,000-character description limit (YouTube Help). YouTube Studio also has bold, italic and strikethrough buttons for descriptions, which keep the letters plain and searchable; use those for description text and Unicode styles only where Studio formatting does not reach.
Styled titles carry a search cost. Google's John Mueller said in May 2017 that Google often ignores and drops special characters in titles. A 2016 test reported by Search Engine Roundtable found a page titled "๐๐๐๐ค ๐๐ค ๐๐ฆ๐ค๐ฅ ๐ ๐ฅ๐๐ค๐ฅ" still matched the search "this is a test", but it ranked no better for it. Styling 1 decorative word, such as "How I Bake Sourdough ๐ถ๐ ๐ฝโด๐โฏ", keeps the keywords plain.
Which YouTube fields accept fancy text?
Fancy text works in 4 of the 5 YouTube text fields:
| Field | Fancy text | Limit and rule |
|---|---|---|
| Handle | Rejected | 3โ30 characters from 75 supported languages; 2 changes per 14 days |
| Channel name | Accepted | 2 changes per 14 days; a change removes the verification badge |
| Video title | Accepted | 100 characters |
| Description | Accepted | 5,000 characters |
| Comment | Accepted | โ |
The title and description counters above count Unicode characters. Each bold, italic or cursive letter takes 2 UTF-16 units, so the social media character limits guide explains how other counters handle the same text.
Can screen readers read YouTube fonts?
Screen readers read YouTube fonts inconsistently. In Adrian Roselli's 2025 tests, JAWS read styled letters one by one by their Unicode names, NVDA, Narrator and recent VoiceOver skipped them, and TalkBack read them as normal words. A styled video title is silent for an NVDA user browsing the channel. The fancy text accessibility guide covers search and screen reader effects together.

The bold text generator covers bold digits for timestamps and lists, and the small text generator produces small caps for channel name tags. Dividers for long descriptions are on the text borders page.
YouTube fonts questions
Can my YouTube handle use a fancy font?
No. YouTube handles accept letters and numbers from YouTubeโs 75 supported languages plus underscores, hyphens, periods and the Latin middle dot. Styled Unicode letters are mathematical symbols, not letters of a language, so they fall outside that set.
Will a fancy font in my channel name remove my verification badge?
Changing the channel name removes the verification badge, whatever font the new name uses, according to YouTube Help. The badge has to be requested again after the change.
Do styled letters in a video title hurt search?
Styled letters are different characters from plain letters. Googleโs John Mueller said in 2017 that Google often ignores and drops special characters in titles, so styling the keywords removes words Google could match. Keep keywords plain and style 1โ2 decorative words.
