Check Mark Symbol Copy and Paste
Check mark symbols are Unicode tick characters, such as ✓, ✔, ☑ and ✅, that you copy and paste into lists, bios, documents and messages. Click a symbol to copy it. This page lists 9 check marks, 6 ballot boxes and 7 cross marks.
Check mark symbols with Unicode code points
There are 9 tick symbols. 6 are text symbols that follow the text colour, and 3 display as colour emoji:
| Symbol | Code point | Unicode name |
|---|---|---|
| ✓ | U+2713 | Check mark |
| ✔ | U+2714 | Heavy check mark |
| 🗸 | U+1F5F8 | Light check mark |
| ☑ | U+2611 | Ballot box with check |
| 🗹 | U+1F5F9 | Ballot box with bold check |
| ✅ | U+2705 | White heavy check mark (green emoji) |
| ✔️ | U+2714 U+FE0F | Heavy check mark, emoji style |
| ☑️ | U+2611 U+FE0F | Ballot box with check, emoji style |
| √ | U+221A | Square root (tick look-alike) |
✅ (U+2705) is always a green emoji. ✔ and ☑ are text symbols by default and become emoji only with the variation selector U+FE0F, which makes ✔️ and ☑️ 2 code points long. √ is the square-root sign; it resembles a tick but a screen reader announces it as "square root".
Is a check mark in a name a verified badge?
No. A check mark pasted into a name or bio is plain text and does not create verification. The verified badges on Instagram, TikTok, X, YouTube and Facebook are images that the app shows only for accounts it has verified, and no Unicode character reproduces them. A name ending in ☑️ or ✔️ appears with the symbol inside the name text, in the name's position, not in the badge position. Instagram, TikTok and X prohibit impersonating other people or accounts, and a fake badge next to a well-known name falls under those rules. The is fancy text allowed guide covers each platform's rules on names.
Checkbox symbols (☐ ☑ ☒)
There are 6 box symbols for to-do lists, forms and polls:
☐ ☑ ☒ (U+2610–U+2612) are a matching set in the Miscellaneous Symbols block, so an empty box and a ticked box line up in one list:
☑ outline
☑ first draft
☐ edit
☐ publish
Cross mark symbols (✗ ✘ ❌)
There are 7 cross marks that pair with check marks for yes/no lists:
| Symbol | Code point | Unicode name |
|---|---|---|
| ✗ | U+2717 | Ballot X |
| ✘ | U+2718 | Heavy ballot X |
| ✕ | U+2715 | Multiplication X |
| ✖ | U+2716 | Heavy multiplication X |
| ❌ | U+274C | Cross mark (red emoji) |
| ❎ | U+274E | Negative squared cross mark (green emoji) |
| × | U+00D7 | Multiplication sign |
✓ and ✗ (U+2713, U+2717) are the light versions and ✔ and ✘ (U+2714, U+2718) the heavy versions of the same Dingbats series, so pick a matching pair: ✓ yes ✗ no, or ✔ yes ✘ no.
Check marks as list markers
Check marks work as list markers in posts. The bullet point symbols copy and paste page compares ✓, •, ➤ and other markers for LinkedIn and Instagram lists, and the aesthetic symbols copy and paste page lists every symbol category.
Check mark questions
Can I copy the blue verified badge?
No. The blue verified badges on Instagram, TikTok, X, YouTube and Facebook are images that each app draws next to verified accounts. They are not Unicode characters, so they cannot be copied. A check mark typed into a name, such as ☑️ or ✔️, is ordinary text and does not verify the account.
What is the difference between ✓ and ✔?
✓ (U+2713, check mark) is a thin tick, and ✔ (U+2714, heavy check mark) is a bold tick. ✔ also has an emoji form ✔️ that adds U+FE0F; ✓ has no emoji form and always matches the text colour.
