Mobile Legends name style is an MLBB nickname written in Unicode look-alike characters or wrapped in symbols, such as 乙乇アんリ尺 or ᴢᴇᴘʜʏʀ亗, that you copy and paste into the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang rename screen. The Japanese style is the most requested MLBB look, and the table below shows what each of its characters really is.
MLBB name style Japanese: what each letter really is
The MLBB Japanese name style replaces each Latin letter with a character that looks like it. 25 of the 26 letters are replaced, using characters from 6 sources: hiragana, full-width katakana, half-width katakana, Chinese ideographs, Korean Hangul and one maths symbol.
| Letter | Look-alike | Code point | What it is | Note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| a | ム | U+FF91 | Halfwidth katakana MU | |
| b | 乃 | U+4E43 | CJK ideograph | Read "no" in Japanese |
| c | ᄃ | U+1103 | Hangul initial consonant TIKEUT | Korean, not Japanese |
| d | り | U+308A | Hiragana RI | |
| e | 乇 | U+4E47 | CJK ideograph | Rare character |
| f | キ | U+FF77 | Halfwidth katakana KI | |
| g | ム | U+30E0 | Katakana MU | |
| h | ん | U+3093 | Hiragana N | |
| i | ノ | U+FF89 | Halfwidth katakana NO | |
| j | フ | U+FF8C | Halfwidth katakana HU (FU) | |
| k | ズ | U+30BA | Katakana ZU | |
| l | レ | U+FF9A | Halfwidth katakana RE | |
| m | ᄊ | U+FFB6 | Halfwidth Hangul SSANGSIOS | Korean, not Japanese |
| n | 刀 | U+5200 | CJK ideograph | Means "sword" or "knife" |
| o | の | U+306E | Hiragana NO | |
| p | ア | U+FF71 | Halfwidth katakana A | |
| q | ゐ | U+3090 | Hiragana WI | Obsolete kana |
| r | 尺 | U+5C3A | CJK ideograph | A traditional unit of length |
| s | 丂 | U+4E02 | CJK ideograph | Rare character |
| t | イ | U+FF72 | Halfwidth katakana I | |
| u | ひ | U+3072 | Hiragana HI | |
| v | √ | U+221A | Square root sign | A maths symbol |
| w | W | U+0057 | Latin capital W | No Japanese look-alike is used |
| x | メ | U+FF92 | Halfwidth katakana ME | |
| y | リ | U+FF98 | Halfwidth katakana RI | |
| z | 乙 | U+4E59 | CJK ideograph | Means "second" in a sequence |
3 consequences follow from the table. A Japanese reader sees random kana and kanji, not your name. The letter w has no look-alike and stays as a Latin W. The 2 Hangul characters (ᄃ, ᄊ) and the rare ideographs (乇, 丂) are missing from fonts that cover only Japanese, so they are the first characters to show as boxes.
Mobile Legends name style for boys and girls
These 6 examples use the nicknames "Zephyr" and "Luna":
| Boy name style | Girl name style |
|---|---|
| 乙乇アんリ尺 | 『ʟᴜɴᴀ』 |
| 〆𝗭𝗲𝗽𝗵𝘆𝗿 | ☆彡 𝙻𝚞𝚗𝚊 彡☆ |
| ঔৣ☬ 𝒵ℯ𝓅𝒽𝓎𝓇 ☬ঔৣ | ₊˚⊹♡ ʟᴜɴᴀ ♡⊹˚₊ |
Japanese corner brackets 『 』 (U+300E, U+300F) and the 彡 streaks (U+5F61) match the Japanese style. More heart and star frames are on the cute font generator.
How long is an MLBB name style?
The Japanese style keeps your name at exactly 1 character per letter, because every look-alike is a single Basic Multilingual Plane character. Framed styles with bold or cursive letters add 1 extra UTF-16 unit per letter. Moonton does not publish the nickname length on an official page, so the shorter styles are the safer choice:
| Name style | Characters (code points) | UTF-16 units | Outside the BMP |
|---|---|---|---|
| 乙乇アんリ尺 | 6 | 6 | 0 |
| ᴢᴇᴘʜʏʀ | 6 | 6 | 0 |
| ᴢᴇᴘʜʏʀ亗 | 7 | 7 | 0 |
| 〆𝗭𝗲𝗽𝗵𝘆𝗿 | 7 | 13 | 6 |
| 『𝚉𝚎𝚙𝚑𝚢𝚛』 | 8 | 14 | 6 |
| ꧁༺ Zephyr ༻꧂ | 12 | 12 | 0 |
| ঔৣ☬ 𝒵ℯ𝓅𝒽𝓎𝓇 ☬ঔৣ | 14 | 19 | 5 |
How to test an MLBB name style before renaming
A Mobile Legends rename uses a Name Change Card, so check the name in 4 steps first:
- Build the name above. Choose a style with 0 characters outside the BMP.
- Paste it into an in-game text field, such as chat, to see it drawn with the game's font.
- Replace any letter that shows as a box. In the Japanese style, ᄃ (c), ᄊ (m), 乇 (e) and 丂 (s) are the first to check.
- Open the rename screen, paste the final name and check that it is not cut off before you confirm.

The Japanese-look letters come from the russian font generator, which also produces faux Cyrillic and faux Greek look-alike styles. For other mobile games, Free Fire name style covers FF nicknames and guilds, and PUBG name style covers PUBG Mobile and BGMI.
Mobile Legends name style questions
What does a Japanese MLBB name actually say?
Nothing meaningful. Each Latin letter is replaced by a Japanese, Chinese or Korean character chosen only for its shape, so 乙乇アんリ尺 reads to a Japanese speaker as a random string of kana and kanji, not as "Zephyr".
How do I change my name in Mobile Legends?
Mobile Legends renames use a Name Change Card. Moonton does not publish the card price or the nickname length on an official page, and third-party figures conflict, so check the price and limit shown in the game.
Why does my MLBB name show boxes?
The font that draws your name has no glyph for one of the characters. Hangul letters such as ᄃ and ᄊ and rare ideographs such as 乇 and 丂 are the likeliest causes in the Japanese style. Swap the letter that fails, or use small caps instead.
