Facebook fonts are Unicode text styles, such as ๐—ฏ๐—ผ๐—น๐—ฑ, ๐˜ช๐˜ต๐˜ข๐˜ญ๐˜ช๐˜ค and cฬถrฬถoฬถsฬถsฬถeฬถdฬถ oฬถuฬถtฬถ, that you copy from this generator and paste into Facebook posts, comments, your intro and group posts. Facebook does not accept them in profile names, which follow Facebook's name standards.

Fonts for Facebook posts

Facebook posts accept every Unicode style on this page, and the styling survives sharing because each styled letter is a separate character. The 3 most-used post styles are bold for headlines, italic for quotes and strikethrough for corrections:

  • Price change: $ฬถ4ฬถ0ฬถ $25

Strikethrough adds 1 combining character (U+0336) after each letter, so "$40" becomes 6 characters. Bold and italic keep the same number of characters but use 2 UTF-16 units per letter.

Can you use fancy fonts in your Facebook name?

No. Facebook's name standards list 5 kinds of content that a profile name cannot contain:

  1. Symbols, numbers, unusual capitalization, repeating characters or punctuation
  2. Characters from multiple languages
  3. Titles of any kind (professional or religious)
  4. Words or phrases in place of a name
  5. Offensive or suggestive words

Styled Unicode letters fall under the first 2 rules: ๐—”๐—ป๐—ป๐—ฎ is made of mathematical symbol characters, not Latin letters. Styled text in a personal profile belongs in the intro, posts and comments.

Which Facebook fields accept fancy text?

Fancy text works in 4 of the 5 Facebook text fields people style:

Facebook bold text in other languages

Facebook bold text works only for Latin letters, Latin digits and Greek letters, because those are the only scripts with styled bold versions in Unicode. A mixed Bengali and English post such as "เฆ†เฆœเฆ•เง‡เฆฐ เฆ…เฆซเฆพเฆฐ ๐—ฆ๐—”๐—Ÿ๐—˜ ๐Ÿฑ๐Ÿฌ%" keeps the Bengali words plain and bolds only "SALE" and "50". The same applies to Hindi, Arabic, Urdu, Tamil and every other non-Latin script.

Digits convert in 5 styled sets: serif bold (๐Ÿ“๐ŸŽ), sans bold (๐Ÿฑ๐Ÿฌ), double-struck (๐Ÿ๐Ÿ˜), sans-serif (๐Ÿง๐Ÿข) and monospace (๐Ÿป๐Ÿถ). The fancy numbers page lists every styled digit set.

Do Facebook fonts affect search and hashtags?

Facebook fonts change the characters, so styled words do not match plain-text searches inside Facebook. A post with ๐—ฏ๐—ฎ๐—ธ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜† is not the same text as "bakery". Keep the words people search for, hashtags and @mentions in plain letters, and style only the surrounding words.

Can screen readers read Facebook fonts?

Screen readers read Facebook fonts differently by product. In Adrian Roselli's 2025 tests, JAWS read styled letters one by one by their Unicode names, NVDA, Narrator and recent VoiceOver skipped them, and TalkBack read them as normal words. NVDA and JAWS together account for about 78% of primary screen reader use, according to the same write-up. The fancy text accessibility guide explains how to keep posts readable.

Facebook fonts questions

Can I use a fancy font in my Facebook name?

No. Facebookโ€™s name standards do not allow symbols, unusual characters, unusual capitalization or characters from multiple languages. Styled Unicode letters fall under those rules, so Facebook rejects them in profile names.

Does Facebook bold text work in Bengali or Hindi?

No. Unicode has styled bold and italic letters only for Latin letters, Latin digits and Greek letters. Bengali, Devanagari and other scripts stay unchanged when converted, so the generator bolds only the English words in a mixed post.

Will bold text in a Facebook post look the same on every phone?

The letters look bold on every device that has a font for the Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block, which includes Windows since Vista through Cambria Math. The exact letter shapes vary between iPhone, Android and desktop because each system draws them with its own font.
