Heart Symbol Copy and Paste
Heart symbols are Unicode characters shaped like hearts, such as ♡, ♥, ❤ and ❥, that you copy and paste into names, bios, captions and messages. Click a heart to copy it. This page lists 11 text hearts, 12 coloured heart emoji, 16 heart emoji with meanings and 16 aesthetic heart combinations.
Heart text symbols with Unicode code points
There are 11 text hearts above. Each one draws in the colour of the surrounding text:
| Heart | Code point | Unicode name |
|---|---|---|
| ♡ | U+2661 | White heart suit |
| ♥ | U+2665 | Black heart suit |
| ❤ | U+2764 | Heavy black heart |
| ❥ | U+2765 | Rotated heavy black heart bullet |
| ❣ | U+2763 | Heavy heart exclamation mark ornament |
| ❦ | U+2766 | Floral heart |
| ❧ | U+2767 | Rotated floral heart bullet |
| ☙ | U+2619 | Reversed rotated floral heart bullet |
| ღ | U+10E6 | Georgian letter ghan |
| ❤︎ | U+2764 U+FE0E | Heart forced to text style |
| ♥︎ | U+2665 U+FE0E | Heart suit forced to text style |
The card-suit hearts ♡ and ♥ come from the Miscellaneous Symbols block, and ❤ ❥ ❣ ❦ ❧ come from Dingbats. ღ is not a symbol: it is a letter of the Georgian alphabet that happens to look like a heart, so screen readers announce it as "Georgian letter ghan".
Heart emoji vs heart text symbols
A heart emoji has a fixed colour, and a heart text symbol takes the text colour. The red heart ❤ (U+2764) defaults to text style in the Unicode standard, so the emoji form needs a second character, the variation selector U+FE0F. The result, ❤️, is 2 code points long. The text form ❤︎ adds U+FE0E instead. Most apps on iOS and Android draw a bare U+2764 as the red emoji anyway, which is why ♥ (U+2665) and ♡ (U+2661) are safer when you want a plain heart that matches your text.
Coloured heart emoji copy and paste
There are 12 single-colour heart emoji. The four newest fail on devices with older emoji fonts:
| Emoji | Code point | Name and Unicode version |
|---|---|---|
| ❤️ | U+2764 U+FE0F | Red heart (Unicode 1.1) |
| 🩷 | U+1FA77 | Pink heart (Unicode 15.0, 2022) |
| 🧡 | U+1F9E1 | Orange heart (Unicode 10.0, 2017) |
| 💛 | U+1F49B | Yellow heart |
| 💚 | U+1F49A | Green heart |
| 🩵 | U+1FA75 | Light blue heart (Unicode 15.0, 2022) |
| 💙 | U+1F499 | Blue heart |
| 💜 | U+1F49C | Purple heart |
| 🤎 | U+1F90E | Brown heart (Unicode 12.0, 2019) |
| 🖤 | U+1F5A4 | Black heart (Unicode 9.0, 2016) |
| 🩶 | U+1FA76 | Grey heart (Unicode 15.0, 2022) |
| 🤍 | U+1F90D | White heart (Unicode 12.0, 2019) |
The pink 🩷, light blue 🩵 and grey 🩶 hearts were added in Unicode 15.0 in 2022. A phone with an emoji font older than that draws a box in their place. The guide why fancy text shows boxes explains how emoji fonts and Unicode versions interact.
Heart emoji meanings
There are 16 heart emoji that show a feeling rather than a colour:
Two of them are sequences joined by a zero-width joiner (U+200D): ❤️🔥 "heart on fire" is 4 code points (❤ + U+FE0F + U+200D + 🔥), and ❤️🩹 "mending heart" is also 4. A platform that counts code points counts each of these as 4 characters, not 1.
Small heart symbols
There are 8 small hearts and small heart pairs that fit inside a name without taking much width:
Aesthetic heart combos
There are 16 heart combinations for bios and captions, built from hearts plus sparkles, brackets and kaomoji:
The combination 𓆩♡𓆪 uses Egyptian hieroglyphs U+131A9 and U+131AA, which many Android phones without a hieroglyph font show as boxes. Heart combos with kaomoji faces are collected on the kaomoji page.
Hearts with fancy text
Hearts frame styled names and bio lines. The cute font generator places hearts between letters and around small-caps text automatically, for example ₊˚⊹♡ ʟᴜɴᴀ ♡⊹˚₊. For a sparkle effect around the hearts, combine them with the star symbol copy and paste collection.
Heart symbol questions
Why does my heart copy as a red emoji instead of a black symbol?
The heart ❤ (U+2764) has both a text and an emoji form. When the app or the copied text includes the variation selector U+FE0F, or the app defaults to emoji, it shows the red ❤️. Copy the text-style heart ❤︎, which ends in U+FE0E, or use ♥ or ♡, which most apps keep as text.
Which heart symbol is the smallest?
The smallest common heart is ♡ (U+2661) or ♥ (U+2665), which take the height of a capital letter. ღ (U+10E6) and ❥ (U+2765) are similar in size. No Unicode heart is drawn at superscript size.
Why does the pink heart 🩷 show as a box?
The pink heart 🩷 was added in Unicode 15.0 in 2022 and in emoji fonts from 2023. Devices with an older emoji font have no picture for U+1FA77 and draw a box or a blank space. The red heart ❤️ has worked on every major platform since 2015.
