The TikTok name (nickname) accepts Unicode styles and holds up to 30 characters. TikTok's support page on changing a nickname gives the 30-character limit and allows 1 change every 7 days.

Can you use fonts in your TikTok username?
No. TikTok's support page states that usernames can only contain letters, numbers, underscores and periods, and that a username cannot end with a period. "mia.dance_" is valid; "๐๐พ๐ถ" is rejected. TikTok allows a username change once every 30 days.
The username is the @handle in the profile URL and in mentions. Keeping it plain keeps it typeable: followers cannot type ๐บ๐ถ๐ฎ on a normal keyboard, so a styled handle would be impossible to tag.
Fonts for TikTok bio
The TikTok bio accepts Unicode styles, emoji and symbols. A bio line works best when 1 phrase is styled and the rest stays plain, for example "แด แดษชสส แด แดษดแดแด โข NYC โข links below". TikTok has published no bio limit on its reachable help pages, and third-party figures conflict, so check the counter in the app before saving a long styled bio.

How do TikTok captions count styled letters?
TikTok captions count length in UTF-16 units through the official Content Posting API, which caps captions at 2,200 "UTF-16 runes" (TikTok for Developers). Every letter from the Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block is a surrogate pair, so it costs 2 units:
- "dance" in plain letters: 5 UTF-16 units.
- "๐ฑ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒ" in bold: 10 UTF-16 units.
- "แด แดษดแดแด" in small caps: 5 UTF-16 units, because small caps sit in the Basic Multilingual Plane.
The second counter option above measures UTF-16 units. Small caps, bubble letters and fullwidth letters cost 1 unit each, so they fit twice as much styled text into a caption as bold or cursive.

Can screen readers read TikTok fonts?
Screen readers do not read TikTok fonts consistently. In Adrian Roselli's 2025 tests, TalkBack on Android read styled letters as normal words, VoiceOver on iPadOS and macOS skipped them, and JAWS read them letter by letter by Unicode name.
