Discord fonts are Unicode text styles, such as ๐”ค๐”ฌ๐”ฑ๐”ฅ๐”ฆ๐” , ๊œฑแดแด€สŸสŸ แด„แด€แด˜๊œฑ and โ“‘โ“คโ“‘โ“‘โ“›โ“”, that you copy from this generator and paste into your Discord display name, About Me, server name and messages. Unlike Discord's built-in markdown, a Unicode style keeps its look in places where markdown does not work, such as names.

Discord fonts for display names

The Discord display name accepts Unicode styles and holds 1โ€“32 characters. Discord's help article on usernames and display names states that a display name can contain special characters, spaces, emoji, and non-Latin characters, and that it can be changed at any time.

The username is the opposite case. It accepts only lowercase letters aโ€“z, digits 0โ€“9, underscores and periods, holds 2โ€“32 characters, and rejects two periods in a row. "luna.dev" is a valid username; "๐“›๐“พ๐“ท๐“ช" is valid only as a display name.

These 4 display-name patterns stay within 32 characters:

  • Gothic: ๐•น๐–Ž๐–Œ๐–๐–™๐–˜๐–๐–†๐–‰๐–Š (10 characters)
  • Small caps with symbol: โœฆ สŸแดœษดแด€ โœฆ (8 characters)
  • Double-struck: โ„™๐•š๐•ฉ๐•–๐• (5 characters)
  • Framed: ๊งเผบ Kai เผป๊ง‚ (9 characters)

Fonts for Discord server names and channels

Discord server names accept Unicode styles and hold 2โ€“100 characters, excluding leading and trailing spaces (Discord developer documentation). A styled server name such as ๐—ฆ๐˜๐˜‚๐—ฑ๐˜† ๐—›๐—ฎ๐—น๐—น shows in the server list and invite links.

Channel names hold 1โ€“100 characters, and text channels follow 2 rules: Discord lowercases the name and turns spaces into hyphens. Voice channels keep capital letters and spaces. Discord has not documented whether styled letters survive in text channel names, so test a styled channel name in a private server first. Emoji and symbol prefixes, such as "๐Ÿ“ขใƒปannouncements" or "โœฆ๏ธฑgeneral", are the common way to decorate channels; the text borders page lists separators such as ใƒป ๏ธฑ and โ”Š.

Discord fonts vs Discord markdown

Discord markdown formats a message when it is sent, while a Discord font changes the characters themselves. The difference decides where each one works:

NeedMarkdownUnicode font
Bold or italic in a message**bold**, *italic*๐—ฏ๐—ผ๐—น๐—ฑ, ๐˜ช๐˜ต๐˜ข๐˜ญ๐˜ช๐˜ค

For bold, italic and strikethrough inside messages, markdown is the better choice because the words stay searchable and screen readers read them normally. Every markdown code, including headers, spoilers and block quotes, is listed in Discord text formatting.

Discord small text

Discord small text has 2 forms: the -# subtext markdown, which shrinks a whole line inside a message, and Unicode superscript letters (หขแตแตƒหกหก แต—แต‰หฃแต—), which work in names and bios. Superscript is lowercase only, and the superscript q (๐žฅ, U+107A5) dates from Unicode 14.0 in 2021 and lacks support in most fonts, so the generator leaves q plain. The small text generator adds small caps and subscript versions.

Which Discord fields accept fancy text?

Fancy text works in 4 of the 7 Discord fields people customize most:

FieldFancy textLimit
UsernameRejected (aโ€“z, 0โ€“9, _ and . only)2โ€“32 characters
Display nameAccepted1โ€“32 characters
About MeAccepted (emoji, markdown and links count)190 characters
Server nameAccepted2โ€“100 characters
Role nameNot documented100 characters
MessageAccepted2,000 characters (4,000 with Nitro)
Server TagOutside the documented set (alphanumeric and certain special characters)4 characters

Limits come from Discord's account and server caps, Custom Profiles and Server Tags help articles. Glitch text is the riskiest style for limits: one glitched letter carries 2โ€“4 stacked marks in the light setting, so a 32-character display name fits 6โ€“10 glitched letters.

Can screen readers read Discord fonts?

Screen readers read Discord fonts differently by product. In Adrian Roselli's 2025 tests, JAWS read styled letters one by one by their Unicode names, NVDA, Narrator and recent VoiceOver skipped them, and TalkBack read them as normal words. A server member using NVDA hears nothing for a fully styled display name. The fancy text accessibility guide covers mixing plain and styled text.

Discord fonts questions

Can I use fancy fonts in my Discord username?

No. A Discord username accepts only lowercase Latin letters aโ€“z, digits 0โ€“9, underscores and periods, with 2โ€“32 characters and no two periods in a row. Fancy fonts go in the display name, which accepts Unicode.

How often can I change my Discord display name?

Any time. Discord sets no cooldown on display name changes, so a styled display name can be tested and swapped freely. The username is the field with stricter rules.

Do Discord fonts count toward the 2,000-character message limit?

Yes. Each styled letter is one Unicode character and counts toward the 2,000-character message limit (4,000 with Nitro). Glitch text counts every stacked mark as a character, so one glitched word can use 30 or more characters.
